Get Good Fast with Private Music Lessons!

Our instructors are highly trained professionals with knowledge of note reading, music theory, ear training and a multitude of musical styles from jazz to classical to ska to ??.

Lessons are held in a one-on-one setting in our in house teaching rooms. Most lessons meet once weekly for 30 minutes. Private lessons offer a level of individual attention that, along with the student’s regular practice, leads to fast improvement. Here at San Diego County Music Exchange, all of our passionate teachers are excited about sharing their experience in music and the arts.


Lori Moss - Voice & Piano

Lori has been teaching here at the Music Exchange for 3 years and teaching privately since 1999. She earned her degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in Education with an emphasis in Music. She and has many students who perform and compete locally and nationally.

Her background is in classical music and opera. She has performed in venues including Sleeptrain Amphitheatre, Cox Arena and for San Diego Chargers chapels as well as many local, national and international churches.

She’s trained many students who’ve received lead roles for CYT, Star Theatre, the Avo Playhouse, the Moonlight Amphitheatre, SanDiego Repertory Theatre and many others. Eric Foster – Guitar

Mr. Foster earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara with an emphasis in composition and a Master of Music Degree from SDSU with an emphasis in guitar performance.

Eric has been the director of the MiraCosta Guitar Orchestra for over fifteen years. He teaches all levels and all styles of guitar as well as music reading, theory, and yes UKULELE! Full bio here. Brian O’Donnell - Trombone, Bass Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Tuba

Brian, a native of San Diego, recently completed his Master of Music Degree at State University of New York, Purchase where he held a Graduate Teaching position. He earned his undergraduate degree in music as a full scholarship student at Louisiana State University.

Mr. O’Donnell is a multi-faceted musician, at home in both jazz and classical genres and has performed in major venues throughout the world including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Copley Hall, Escondido Center, Smetana Hall in Prague, Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Hermitage Theater in St. Petersburg. Alice Gallagher – Clarinet

Alice graduated from The Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Music degree and holds a Master of Music degree from Cal State Fullerton. Her teachers include Tom Martin, Ricardo Morales, Todd Levy, and Håkan Rosengren.

Alice's extensive orchestral training includes not only the ensembles of her respective schools but also as a fellow at the National Orchestra Institute and as a substitute for the New World Symphony.

She enjoyed a vibrant chamber music life in Boston with the Arcturus Chamber Ensemble but has been more active with solo performances since moving to Southern California in 2006.

For Alice, teaching is a lifetime passion. She is on the faculty of Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA, and teaches at the San Diego County Music Exchange in Vista. For scheduling call (760) 630-7451

Dr. Brad Steinwehe - Trumpet

Brad has been active in the Southern California Music scene for the past 30 years and has an extensive list of Live Performance, Television, Broadway and Film credits in his background. In 2004, Brad played lead trumpet in the Huis Ten Bosch Orchestra in Sasebo, Japan and on his return formed the acclaimed Brad Steinwehe Jazz Orchestra in 2005.

Brad has also been active as a music educator and has served on the faculties of University of Northern Colorado, Miramar College, Palomar College and San Diego State University. Brad received his Master of Music Degree from San Diego State in 1995.

Rafael Perez – Saxophone

While attending El Camino High School Rafael was recognized multiple times among the Southern California Jazz community for his outstanding playing, even being asked to join the Big Bands of the legendary Solomon Burke and Dan Terry. He currently plays for the Big Band Jazz Hall of Fame Band.

Rafael is a well known and respected local sax player. He is often asked to guest conduct local high school and middle school jazz bands. His students are consistently in the top positions in their respective bands. For saxophone lessons contact Rafa at (760) 630-7451

Lisa Voisen - Piano, Flute, Saxophone

Lisa has been teaching for over 30 years. She retired as a public school teacher in 2015, and is now accepting new students. She has performed on the flute for over 35 years, the saxophone for 25 years, and the piano for 20 years.

Mrs. Voisen has a multiple subject teaching credential as well as a Master's degree in education. She is currently the lead alto sax in the Palomar Pacific Coast Concert Band, plays the bass clarinet in the New Horizons Band, and performs for public and private social events on the flute and piano.
